In continuation of our outreach efforts, Radakka Humanitarian holds an annual shelter visit on thanksgiving day.  We visit three shelters every year to serve our brothers and sisters that are less fortunate. Before spending quality time with our own families on thanksgiving day, we organize and coordinate a distribution of clothing, food, gift baskets and entertainment throughout the shelters. At dawn, we join together as a group to separate clothes, create gift baskets and prepare meals. In the later hours of the morning we load up our vehicles with our goods and transport to the shelters.

Upon arrival at the first shelter, we are given a room to set up the clothes to distribute and also set up the food in serving form so we can serve our brothers and sisters.  Accompanied by holiday music,  we spend sometime eating and drinking with each other and celebrate thanksgiving. This particular shelter really highlights our duty to Serve, Share and Love and brings this truth into realization. When we complete this amazing visit, we continue to our second and third shelter where we are allowed to drop off the goods due to shelter rules and regulation.

The preparation of this fulfilling duty is not easy but we do it with open and genuine heart. The visits are strategically planned days prior to thanksgiving. We pull our community resources through clothing drives, coat drives and donations. We then collect these resources and package them presentably to give to our brothers and sisters in need on the day of Thanksgiving.

We are proud of this annual celebration and plan to evolve it through the upcoming years. In order to do so, we will need the assistance of outsourcing and the support of third party entities. We believe with the combination of our passion and effort along with third party support, we can actually expand this celebratory outreach and make an extraordinary impact in many lives on thanksgiving day. Your support through material donations and monetary donations will be greatly appreciated.

We are extending a great thank you and appreciation to the HELP BROWNSVILLE WOMENS CENTERWOMEN IN NEED (WINS) and HELP USA for hosting us every year.

RADAKKA could not have spent the Thanksgiving holiday last year without a visit to our shelter family.  Thanks to Brooklyn Immigrant Community Support and their partnership with Farmers to Families Food Box donations, we were able to deliver many food boxes to the family shelter in East New York and many elderly residents in the East Flatbush area.
